Ho paura\u201d le disse con una vocina flebile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sara lo guard\u00f2 e sorrise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cVa bene, ma solo per questa sera. Buona notte Leo e non pensare troppo prima di dormire. Dai che domani andrai in gita e poi torneranno mamma e pap\u00e0\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spense la luce e usc\u00ec, lasciando la porta semiaperta.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leo cominci\u00f2 a pensare, come sempre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La maestra glielo diceva che pensava troppo, che doveva essere pi\u00f9 allegro, che se non si divertiva da bambino quando lo avrebbe fatto?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divertirsi? Con tutto quello che succedeva nel mondo? La fame, le guerre, le malattie, i virus. Come non pensarci? Come facevano gli altri bambini a non capire? Bisognava fare qualcosa, trovare una soluzione.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ci avrebbe pensato lui. Da grande avrebbe fatto qualcosa di importante. Avrebbe dato un contributo a migliorare il mondo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S\u00ec, ma come?\u00a0 Sicuramente doveva studiare. Ma cosa?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cosa sarebbe diventato da grande? Un avvocato per difendere i deboli?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un giornalista per raccontare la verit\u00e0? Un politico? Un medico? Un biologo? Un fisico? Un chimico? Oppure un ingegnere? Un astronomo? Un\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anche Sara nella sua stanza non riusciva a dormire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sent\u00ec vibrare il cellulare. Un messaggio di Ezio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHai deciso?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gli avrebbe risposto il giorno dopo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accese il computer. Le restava da completare l&#8217;ultimo capitolo. Il relatore le aveva detto che la sua tesi di dottorato era ottima. Un contributo scientifico notevole. Non era un caso che una famosa universit\u00e0 americana le avesse gi\u00e0 offerto un contratto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inizi\u00f2 a rileggere quanto aveva scritto. Era quasi perfetto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leo, nel frattempo, aveva smesso di pensare al futuro e si era addormentato.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Era arrivato il sogno. Quello che al risveglio non riusciva mai a ricordare.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c8 su un palco, lo stanno premiando.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In prima fila ci sono mamma e pap\u00e0. Sara non c\u2019\u00e8.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ora sono in auto. Nevica. \u00c9 buio. Pap\u00e0 \u00e8 allegro, scherza con la mamma.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tutto diventa bianco.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poi c\u2019\u00e8 il buio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sente freddo, caldo, ancora freddo. Sente urlare. Tornano i colori.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c8 la mamma, sta piangendo, pap\u00e0 \u00e8 appoggiato sul volante. Non si muove. Mamma \u00e8 piena di sangue. Urla. Viene verso di lui. Cade. Si rialza. Lo abbraccia. Torna il buio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Il cellulare cominci\u00f2 a vibrare. Sara rispose subito.\u00a0 Non controll\u00f2 chi fosse. Lo sapeva.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCiao. Che c\u2019\u00e8?\u201d. Non voleva essere sgarbata ma non se la sentiva di discutere anche quella sera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHo visto che hai letto il mio messaggio. Perch\u00e9 non mi hai risposto?\u201d le disse Ezio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cScusami ma non ho proprio avuto tempo\u201d rispose Sara.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSara, non puoi rimandare all&#8217;infinito. Ti devi decidere. Hai ventotto anni. Devi scegliere cosa vuoi fare della tua vita. E io devo capire se ne far\u00f2 parte. Non possiamo proseguire cos\u00ec.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sara, ho accettato la proposta degli americani. Io partir\u00f2. Tu verrai con me o no?\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEzio non posso decidere ora. Non ce la faccio\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSara, lo sai come la penso, Non \u00e8 stata colpa tua\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTu non sai nulla Ezio, non sai proprio nulla. Non posso lasciarlo\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNon vuoi. \u00c9 diverso\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ezio interruppe la comunicazione.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sara per un attimo pens\u00f2 di richiamarlo. Poi spense il computer e si addorment\u00f2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tutto torna bianco. La mamma mi guarda. Continua a guardarmi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMamma, sei arrabbiata? Cosa ho fatto di male? E pap\u00e0? Perch\u00e9 non si muove? Mamma, parlami. Mamma! Mamma!\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sara sent\u00ec le urla.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Come ogni notte alle due.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Era accaduto a quell&#8217;ora.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Il ghiaccio, la neve, forse un colpo di sonno.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suo padre era morto sul colpo. Sua madre l&#8217;avevano trovata poco distante abbracciata a Leo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leo aveva solo otto anni. Il suo fratellino cos\u00ec intelligente nato dieci anni dopo di lei.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La mamma non ce l&#8217;aveva fatta. Leo s\u00ec, ma era rimasto come un bambino di otto anni.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un bambino che ogni giorno rinasceva senza ricordare nulla del giorno prima.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un bambino nel corpo di un diciottenne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doveva esserci anche lei in quella macchina. Aveva anche litigato con suo padre. Non era andata a quella stupida premiazione. Lei aveva diciotto anni, era adulta, poteva decidere di fare quello che voleva.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Era rimasta a casa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Se fosse andata con loro sarebbero tornati prima, forse pap\u00e0 non avrebbe bevuto, forse sarebbe stato pi\u00f9 attento. Forse&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leo stava continuando a urlare.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stava peggiorando. Cos\u00ec le avevano detto i medici.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L&#8217;eredit\u00e0 con cui aveva pagato le cure, la scuola speciale per Leo e i suoi studi all\u2019Universit\u00e0 era quasi finita.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doveva decidere cosa fare.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C&#8217;era l&#8217;istituto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ezio aveva trovato un modo per farlo ricoverare quasi gratuitamente. E se fosse stata la cosa giusta? Solo cos\u00ec sarebbe potuta andare in America e proseguire nei suoi studi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non era quello che sognava sin da bambina?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMammaaaa\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Si alz\u00f2 e corse da lui. Lo trov\u00f2 a terra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLeo cosa c&#8217;\u00e8? Cosa hai?\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leo la guard\u00f2, come se non la riconoscesse, come se stesse arrivando da un luogo distante, da un tempo lontano.\u00a0 Poi si riprese.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCiao Sara. \u00c9 gi\u00e0 mattina? \u00c9 ora di andare in gita?\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non ricordava nulla di quello che aveva sognato. Come sempre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNo, no. Hai solo avuto un incubo. Dai, prova a dormire. Vuoi che resti qui con te per un po&#8217;?\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cS\u00ec, Sara, leggiamo un libro? Anzi no, posso chiederti una cosa?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cChe cosa, Leo?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSai, \u00e8 una cosa che mi chiedo sempre e non riesco a trovare una risposta giusta. Forse perch\u00e9 ne ho troppe\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCosa sar\u00e0 mai?
